Measurement Principle

The NIR region (780nm-2500nm) reveals molecular vibrations through light absorption. Spectral data from agricultural samples show characteristic broad bands due to harmonic vibrations of chemical bonds (N-H, O-H), providing both chemical fingerprints and compositional data for quality analysis.

Measurement Methods
  • Near-infrared reflection detection: Suitable for detecting surface information on fruit peels, such as color and luster, but not for internal quality analysis.
  • Near-infrared transmission detection: Theoretically applicable to transparent or semi-transparent samples, but cannot penetrate most fruits. Limited practical application.
  • Near-infrared diffuse reflection detection: A measurement method between reflection and transmission, ideal for opaque, solid and semi-solid samples. The obtained spectral information reflects internal fruit structure characteristics, widely used for detecting internal qualities like sugar content and acidity.
